Sturgeon Trip

Trophy Sturgeon fishing trips along the Columbia & Willamette River in Astoria

Columbia River Sturgeon Fishing with Take Down Charters

Catching this true river monster is a must-do! Action is fierce, and the fight is like none other.

Oversize and keeper Sturgeon gather in great numbers in the Columbia River estuary late Spring to early Summer to feed on the large quantity of bait, such as clams, and large schools of anchovies that are in the river, which greatly increases the chances of hooking into one of the largest, strongest fish you can catch in fresh water.

Columbia River Astoria and Willamette River trophy Sturgeon fishing trips can be an action-packed day, where it's not uncommon to catch up to 40 fish in a single day.

The Columbia River and its tributaries are home to the largest population of White Sturgeon in the world! Over 1 million sturgeon exist in these waters, and under the right conditions, it’s possible for them to grow up to 20 feet in length!

Our Columbia River Sturgeon Fishing Guides have a unique opportunity to be able to pursue these fish and guide their clients to catch the largest freshwater fish in North America.

A typical trip catch rate can be from a few to 15 or more daily, with some of them often being over 5 feet in length!

Most Oregon Sturgeon trips are catch-and-release, but every once in a while, we get a small retention window to harvest.

Make sure to ask your captain about current regulations.

Bring a camera to capture a picture of a lifetime. The majority of the time, we will be anchored in shallow water near the sand flats, usually 5-10’ deep, in which the Sturgeon (40-300lbs) put on a show jumping out of the water. All top of the line Sturgeon fishing gear is provided.

No fishing experience is required to enjoy our Sturgeon fishing trips.
