Kokonee Trip

Beautiful lake scenery, giant, tasty salmon, and little angling experience required.

Lake Billy Chinook Kokanee Fishing

Take Down Guide Service provides Kokanee Salmon Fishing Trips in Oregon. The weather is warm, the fish are plentiful, and the action is intense.

These trips are great for families of all ages and require very little angling experience to have a successful trip.

This fishery is very enjoyable, with the pristine cliff borders and rock formations of Lake Billy Chinook all around you.

These hard-fighting Kokanee are one of the best-eating fish Oregon lakes can provide. Kokanee range from 12″ to 18″ and weigh 1 to 2 lbs.

We fish for these hard-fighting fish in the early spring and summer. The limit was recently changed again, still allowing five kokanee a day, but they can now be kept on top of the regular trout limit.

The preferred method of fishing is Trolling and Jigging with light gear.

You never know if you're going to hook into a Kokanee, bass, or bull trout, which can range from 16-25 inches in size.

Kokanee over 16 inches are considered sockeye salmon and must be released unharmed.

Rainbow trout over 20 inches are considered steelhead and must be released as well.

Anglers may keep one bull trout at least 24 inches long as part of their limit. Currently, there are no size or number limits on invasive brown trout and smallmouth bass
